Get to Know Your Scaffold

The company has a group of cooperation teams engaged in the jack base scaffolding industry for many years, with dedication, innovation spirit and service awareness, and has established a sound quality control and management system to ensure product quality.

Scaffolding may look relatively basic when assembled, but it’s actually a complex structure made up of many different components. Like a giant Erector Set, there are a lot of small but essential parts that make up the whole.

Get to know your scaffold by learning more about the basic scaffolding components needed to assemble a Bil-Jax scaffolding system.

Frame

The frame is the main component of scaffolding. Available in a variety of styles, sizes, and lock types, frames are often used in one or two tiers, but modular frames can be stacked several stories high for larger projects.

Diagonal Cross Brace

This is the main connecting component of scaffolding and is essential in providing a rigid connection to each frame. Diagonal scaffold braces are available in a variety of lock spacing depending on the frame type.

Leveling Jack

The base of the scaffold. This provides a solid foundation for the scaffold frame and allows for leveling of the scaffold tower. Leveling jacks are especially useful in projects where the scaffolding is assembled alongside an external wall.

Base Plate

The feet of the scaffold. Base plates prevent slipping or sinking and are available in both rigid and swivel configurations. Rubber pads are available to prevent floor scratches.

Caster

The caster enables a unit to be mobile. It is equipped with brakes and offers a 360-degree swivel.

Outrigger

Triangular brackets attach to the bottom of the scaffold tower to increase the base width, providing support and increasing stability. Outriggers can be used with casters, leveling jacks, or base plates.

Insert Pin

Inserts are attached to the top of the scaffold frame and used to connect frames together.

Fastening Pins

Fastening pins help secure the insert to the frame when connecting two frames together. Available in a variety of styles including snap pins, spring rivets, hinge pins, pig tails, and drive pins.

Cat-a-Corner Brace

These stabilize and square the scaffolding setup. Cat-a-corner braces connect diagonally at the base and every 20 feet in height to strengthen scaffolding.

Walkboard

The platform to the scaffold setup. Walkboards are available in a variety of styles (aluminum/plywood, all-aluminum, and steel) and dimensions.

Panel Guard System

End Panel

The end supports to the Easi-Guard panel system include a built-in toeboard and chained mid-rail for easy platform entry.

Side Panel

The side panel supports to the Easi-Guard panel system connect to the mid post and end panel.

Mid Post

The middle supports to the Easi-Guard panel system. The side panels and toeboard connect here.

Toeboard

Toeboards function as protective barriers that prevent tools and other objects from falling from a scaffolding deck. They connect to the bottom of the mid post and the end panels.

Side Bracket

Side brackets attach to the side of the scaffolding parallel to the cross braces. Provides additional work space for personnel only, extending the platform closer to the building or wall.

End Guard Rail for Side Bracket

Used specifically with the side bracket as a guard rail to help prevent falls and ensure safety.

Scaffold Tie Brace

Used to secure scaffolding to a wall for stability. Scaffold tie braces may be used in place of an outrigger when feasible.

Climbing Ladder

A climbing ladder can be used as a means of access to the scaffold if it is secured to the outside of the scaffolding frames.

Used to secure the climbing ladder to the scaffold.
