Renovation Storage Solutions

You can truly never have enough storage! We’re almost positive no one has ever said that they have too much storage because excess storage is always a good thing. If you’re constantly asking yourself “where on earth am I going to put this?” then perhaps it’s time for an interior renovation. During our design phase, we always make sure that we are utilizing your space in the best way possible so that it suits your needs and gives you as many storage options as possible. We love combining function with style to create a beautiful and practical space for you and your loved ones. Our designers are experts at freeing up space for you to store your belongings so that you can live a clutter-free life. Here are some of the ways our designers create more storage space for our clients.

1) Built-In Shelving

Built-in shelving units are perfect if you’re tight on floor space but still need added shelving. They add tons of storage in a stylish and clean way, without sacrificing too much actual floor space. We’ve done a ton of different built-in units in all kinds of areas in our clients’ homes. The most popular options are built-in shelves around your TV or fireplace, around your desk, in your closets, as window seats, or in hallways.

2) Laundry Room Storage

If you are already thinking about upgrading your laundry room, then we recommend incorporating new storage options into the design. Consider installing built-in shelves and cabinets to store all your cleaning supplies so that everything is organized and accessible in one space. You can also convert your laundry room into a full mudroom and add some hooks and closets for all of your coats, shoes, and outdoor items.

3) Mudroom Benches

Speaking of mudrooms, this area of your home is key for hiding clutter. Sometimes mudrooms start as awkward corners or areas you don’t know what to do with. We recommend adding a storage bench because they are perfect for tight spots, add so much extra storage, and also act as a convenient spot to sit when coming in or going out. Even just a simple shelf with a bench unit is enough to stash shoes, coats, backpacks, purses, hats, and more.

4) Hallway Storage

There are plenty of options for hallway storage, even if you have small or narrow hallways. If floor space is your concern, we recommend floating shelves to add visual interest or propping a ladder shelf against your wall. If you’re looking for more permanent solutions, we can remodel your hallways to include built-in storage units for even more extra options.

5) Transformed Nooks

Take advantage of your home’s structure and utilize all the nooks and crannies. You may originally see these areas as annoying or frustrating but with the right help, you can transform them into amazing storage. Have sloped ceilings? Add floor-to-ceiling built-in units with plenty of depth. In the below photos, we transformed a small nook into a desk area perfect for getting homework done. The possibilities are endless.

6) Under Stair Storage

A place people often forget to look for storage is under the stairs. We can help you get creative with custom shelving units, cabinets, and drawers for you to stash away whatever you want. If your stairs are near your kitchen, we can add some extra pantry space, or you can hide away seasonal items or kids’ toys.

7) Kitchen Island Cupboards

Looking to add more space in your kitchen but don’t want to sacrifice a kitchen island? We can combine both needs with a functional remodel. We have plenty of options including changing up the shape of your island, adding deep drawers and cupboards, creating nooks for your kitchen appliances, or open shelving for easy access.

8) Banquette Seating

Seating that is both functional and stylish with lots of storage. Not only do banquette seats save space in your home, but they can also act as hidden storage. We can include built-in drawers or shelves to store everything from linens, to board games, to extra pillows, and everything in between. Banquette seating is the best in cozy corners, around your kitchen island, or in tight spaces.

9) Wine Racks

Another great option for added kitchen storage is a wine rack or butler pantry. We will often incorporate wine or alcohol storage into a separate counter space in our clients’ kitchens. This also allows for a designated coffee or tea station so that all of your beverages have a proper home and aren’t cluttering your countertops.

10) Entertainment Centers

No one likes to look at tangled TV, cable, internet, gaming, and phone cords surrounding their entertainment areas. While this technology is useful for our day-to-day lives, that doesn’t mean you need to also look at them and their cords every day. Built-in storage around your television or computers is great for hiding that less than desirable tech mess so that your space looks neat and tidy.

11) Closet Organization

There are so many options when it comes to closet storage. Our team of designers will work with you to create your dream closet with the perfect combination of storage elements for your needs. We often opt for floor-to-ceiling storage to utilize as much space as possible. Depending on your items, we can add hooks, shelves, drawers, cabinets, racks, nooks, and more.

12) Open Shelving

Are you hoping for more storage but also want to display some of your more visual and important belongings? Open shelving, or at least partially open shelving, is for you. We can design units that have drawers and cabinets with a few open shelves so that you can showcase your favourite items while still having space to hide away your less visually pleasing items.

13) Garage Storage

Don’t forget about your garage! Prevent your garage from becoming a dumping ground by creating proper storage solutions so that all of your items have a home. Again, built-in shelves are your best friend as well as cabinets and even a track system for all of your tools. We also recommend overhead storage for your less-used items if you want to free up floor space.

14) Recessed Bathroom Shelves

If you’ve been following along with our latest Feature Fridays on our Instagram, then you already know how much we love bathroom niches and recessed shelving. They are so classy and clean while still adding more functional space to your bathroom. They are perfect for storing your most reached for items and can be built around your tub or in the shower.

15) Bathroom Vanities

The perfect bathroom vanity will give you the right amount of storage so that your sink and countertops are free of clutter. We can design vanities in many different shapes and sizes so that it fits your bathroom’s aesthetic without taking up too much floor space. Floating shelves or cabinets are also great ideas for more storage solutions.
