Sprayers are the most commonly used pesticide application equipment. They are available in various types and sizes, each designed for their own specific duty. These many uses range from lawn & garden applications of our 5 gallon motorless sprayer up to our largest gallonage Ag models used for crop spraying. In between includes our golf course units for turf and commercial work, tall trees to shrubbery. Regardless of size or function, the make-up of most sprayers are similar.
A spray unit usually comprises a carrier, a tank, a dispensing system (boom, spray gun), a basic pumping system, (roller, centrifugal, piston, diaphragm, gear or turbine), and a power system, (engine, electric or hydraulic motor, PTO shaft or our lawn and garden ground drive motorless).
The sprayer may be mounted to an ag tractor, (3-point, front-mount or side mount), mounted in a truck box or attached to the chassis, or pulled if trailer mounted. Units may be positioned in a turf truck vehicle, pulled if trailer mounted, or smaller Lawn & Garden sprayer type units may be pushed or pulled by hand or carried on the applicator’s back.
While power-driven sprayers generally have several nozles, some of them have additional provisions for attaching a single nozzle spray gun for special applications. Power driven sprayers are classified as follows:
