This 5 LED set track light system is so much brighter than my 4 bulb T5 fluorescent fixture that it replaced (and which only lasted about 7 years). I always thought that one was so bright! Using the "pointable" track lights is also much more pleasant for countertop and stove work.
I hired an electrician and it took him an hour and a half to install, as he had to make a new hole to feed the ceiling electrical wires. No one talks about this, and I think it's important to note. If your current lines are in the middle of the ceiling, as mine were, they have to be moved as the connection on the track is on the end of the five foot long track. Big mess, and you'll have to do drywall repair and painting.
If you choose, each individual light has a turn switch on it that turns it off so that when you turn the light switch on, only the individual lights you want light up. They are VERY bright. The light provided is five stars for working in the kitchen, but maybe not so much for "ambiance." They are somewhat glaring.
The lights themselves are quite long so this fixture will probably not be comfortable for very tall people if your ceiling is standard 8 feet tall.
This light fixture does not have a remote. I don't need that, myself, but if you do, fyi.
