Dive into anything

This was a new problem for me so figured I'd make a post for anyone who encounters the same issue.

I use a Dymo 4Xl thermal label printer. I've had it for about 6 months now. The last couple of months it had been acting up- randomly taking forever for the label to print. I started unplugging it from my laptop, plugging it back in, and that seemed to do the trick. Annoying though.

Then a couple of days ago, I had to insert a new roll of labels. When I started printing, the labels were coming out with a big "split" down the middle, like a white line or indent that messed up the label rendering it useless.

After reinserting the new roll dozens of times, fiddling around with my settings, wasting tons of labels, and frantic google searches, I discovered I needed to get "cleaning cards" and run one through the printer every month to keep it clean.

My growing pile of orders had to sit for 2 days while I waited for my cleaning cards to arrive from Amazon. Couldn't find them in any office supply shop in town. I was in a bit of a panic worried I wouldn't get orders out by the deadline.

It took 4 cleaning cards passing through my Dymo before this little chunk of cardboard fell out from the printer.

Now my Dymo works, once again, like a dream. Labels look great. And it reads the shipping info from Etsy without any hiccups.

I wish I had known about these cleaning cards months ago. I'm stocking up on them because they don't seem easily available on short notice and I don't want another panic, especially not during another shutdown.
