As careful as we may try to keep the inside of our car clean, dirt and dust still accumulate. Oil, crumbs, and other substances will stick to the bottom of our shoes, inevitably track dirt inside our car, and end up on our floor mats. Over time, both rubber and cloth mats will retain dirt, causing discoloration and lack of appeal. Don’t worry though, here’s your go-to guide for cleaning dirty mats!

How do I clean carpet floor mats?

  1. Locate the floor mat cleaner at your local Caliber Car Wash. If you cannot find it, be sure to ask an employee! They’re always happy to help.
  2. Remove the floor mat from your car.
  3. Place your carpet floor mat face-down on the silver tray.
  4. Press the “start” button on the machine, and slowly begin to insert your floor mat.
  5. In about 10 seconds, your floor mat will appear in the bottom tray of the machine.
  6. Repeat for all other floor mats!

How do I clean hard or rubber floor mats?

  1. Remove your rubber car mat from the vehicle.
  2. Shake the mat and try to remove as much loose debris as possible.
  3. Vacuum both sides of the floor mat, getting them as clean as possible.
  4. Spray Caliber’s multi-purpose cleaner on your mat.
  5. Grab a microfiber towel from the “clean towel” basket and begin wiping the rubber floor mat.
  6. Use the detailing air to get in between those hard-to-reach areas on the mat.
  7. Reinstall the mat and repeat with the rest of your rubber mats!

How can I clean my cloth floor mats at home?

  1. Remove your cloth floor mats from your car.
  2. Vacuum both sides of the mat.
  3. Experts recommend using a light, soapy cleaning agent mixed with baking soda to remove any grime, stains, or odors. You can also use a steam cleaner, pressure washer, or washing machine based on your vehicle’s type of floor mats.
  4. Vacuum the floor mat again.
  5. Let the mat dry thoroughly.
  6. Reinstall each mat.
