Article: Best Urban Skates of 2021

Best Value Urban Skates

Rollerblade RB Cruisers

Now offered in both men’s and women’s models.

Comfort: 9/10

A classic-looking hard molded plastic shell, with multiple vents to keep feet cool and dry. Includes shock absorbers under the heel and well-padded liners that are super cozy (removable). No break-in time is needed to make them feel good. A skater that feels good, skates better, and for longer. The RB shell is the widest in Rollerblade’s line, making them far more comfortable than the tighter, firm-fitting high-end models.

Ease: 8/10

80mm wheel size is great for control and maneuverability. The frames are adjustable (and removable – 165mm mounting) if wanting to tune to preference, but most will enjoy cruising in the Cruiser as they are, right out of the box.

Value: 10/10

Prices have gone up on everything in recent years, but the Rollerblade Cruiser maintains one of the better price points for a molded shell urban skate with extruded aluminum frames.

Best Performance Urban Inline Skates

Powerslide Hardcore Evo 90 and Evo 110

Comfort: 8.5/10

An absolute force when it comes to high-end urban and/or freestyle slalom skating. High-performance often compromises comfort due to stiff, tight-fitting boots. These are stiff and snug, but with some break-in time they cozy up nicely.

Ease: 8/10

As the name (and price) implies, they are packed with features and designed for hardcore/elite skaters. They skate easy for skilled skaters, but if you're getting these inline skates just to have the best of the best, you likely will not enjoy them as much. The Hardcore Evo is offered in two stock setups (90mm and 110mm) to satisfy both speed and maneuverability.

Value: 9/10

A noticeable price tag, but if there are skates worth that amount, it would be the Hardcore Evo. Carbon and Kevlar boots used with metal buckles, extruded aluminum frames, and top-end wheels with bearings round out one of the most talked about urban freestyle setups on the market.
