The advantage of double braid is that it is much stronger than twisted nylon only because of the number of fibers it is made of. In addition, the shell protects the cord from abrasion while giving it a very smooth feel. Like solid woven nylon, it is very flexible and pliable, but unlike solid woven, it can be spliced. Many utility contractors like this rope because it is perfect for pulling cables through conduit. Double braided nylon absorbs shock loads well and resists decay, which also makes it ideal for hauling.

Polyester rope also resists abrasion very well and is non-conductive. This type of rope is not suitable for use in water because, like nylon, it sinks. However, unlike nylon, it does not absorb water.
