Drives a Class B single axle Microbulk vehicle to transport specialty and medical gas to and from specified customers, spot-filling bulk gas tanks from a mounted 3000 gas tank. Verifies load manifest. Performs pre and post trip vehicle inspections, documenting deficiencies and ensures all safety items are in good working order. Also, participates in regular fill plant work such as pumping and loading during non-driving time. Works closely with Microbulk customers to maintain optimal levels of customer service. Maintains neat, clean and professional personal appearance, and maintains vehicle appearance in a professional manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Inspect vehicle before and after use according to DOT and company maintenance checklist.

  • Loading Microbulk tanks, filling customer owned bulk tanks as assigned.

  • Maintain load manifests and all other vehicle documents, ensuring they are properly completed and balanced with truck counts and shipping documents before and after deliveries.

  • Work closely with customers to ensure Airgas meets their expectations, listen to and resolve customer complaints.


  • Operate a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.

  • Ensure all safety rules are strictly observed.

  • Maintain appropriate drivers license with Airbrakes, Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Assist with special applications such as tube trailers, bulk tankers.

  • Assist in the plant with pumping, loading and other duties as assigned.

  • Assist with inventory, and other duties as required.

  • Some after hours may be required may also be called by customers for emergencies.

  • Other duties and projects as assigned.


Qualifications


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).


  • 2 years of Class B driving experience.

  • Class B CDL with HazMat, Tanker and Air brake endorsements.

  • Accident Free/Point Free driving record of at least 5 years.

  • Some experience handling compressed gases - preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:


  • Is at least 21 years old.

  • Must meet all physical qualification standards imposed by regulation for drivers.

  • Can read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquires, and to make entries on reports and records.

  • Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.

  • Ability to routinely lift 25 - 50 lbs, and occasionally lift 51 - 80 lbs.

  • Must be able to drive hazardous cargo for up to 10 hours; frequent bending also required.

  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Must be able to work occasional overtime if necessary.

  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.

  • Must be able to work outdoors in temperatures ranging from 30 to 100 degrees.

  • Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.
