Xi’an ShaanGu Power Co., Ltd. (ShaanGu) has signed a contract with China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) to provide the core compressor system for a carbon capture unit at CNPC’s integrated new energy, coal power, and CCUS (carbon capture, utilization, and storage) project. This marks a key milestone in ShaanGu’s push for a greener energy sector and its contribution to China’s carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.
This large-scale CCUS project will capture 1 million tons of CO₂ annually, serving as a critical model for reducing emissions and improving energy efficiency. Once operational, the project is expected to cut annual CO₂ emissions by 107,600 tons while saving 43,800 tons of standard coal. It will also help establish a full-scale CCUS value chain, advancing China’s efforts to build a cleaner, low-carbon energy system.
For this project, ShaanGu will deploy its "1+7" distributed energy system solution, tailoring an energy-efficient carbon capture technology to meet the project’s demands. Its state-of-the-art compressor system, designed using advanced aerodynamic modeling, will significantly reduce energy consumption compared to conventional designs. At the same time, it ensures high capture efficiency, product purity, and long-term operational stability.
By participating in this landmark project, ShaanGu continues to strengthen its role in China’s clean energy transition, providing innovative solutions for a more sustainable power sector.
