This article will teach you to scientifically evaluate the quality of aluminum composite panels from the following core dimensions.
Aluminum Composite Panel (ACP) is a widely used material in architectural decoration, advertising signs, transportation facilities and other fields. Its quality is directly related to the safety, aesthetics and service life of the project. However, there are many types of aluminum composite panels on the market, and the price difference is large. How to judge whether an aluminum composite panel is "high-quality and reliable"? This article will teach you to scientifically evaluate the quality of aluminum composite panels from the following core dimensions:
1. Total thickness of the plate and aluminum skin thickness
Total thickness (generally 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm): Choose the appropriate thickness according to the application scenario. The exterior curtain wall usually uses a thickness of 4mm or more, while the interior decoration or advertising signs can choose 3mm.
Aluminum skin thickness (commonly 0.04mm ~ 0.5mm): The aluminum skin thickness of high-quality aluminum composite panels is usually not less than 0.21mm. The greater the thickness, the stronger the impact resistance, the higher the stability, and the better the wind pressure resistance.
Recommendation: Use a caliper to check whether the thickness of the aluminum skin meets the nominal standard to avoid using "falsely labeled" products.
2. Adhesion of the adhesive layer (peel strength)
The three-layer structure of the aluminum composite panel is formed by hot pressing of the polymer adhesive layer. The peel strength is a key indicator to measure the bonding strength between the aluminum plate and the intermediate polyethylene core material. The higher the value, the stronger the bonding.
High-quality panels should pass the peeling strength test.
Poor bonding can lead to bubbling, delamination, peeling and other problems during use.
Recommendation: You can use a knife to gently pry open the edge. Inferior panels are often prone to separation of the aluminum skin and the core material.
3. Surface coating quality (especially fluorocarbon and polyester)
The surface coating of the aluminum composite panel directly determines its color durability, corrosion resistance and UV resistance:
Fluorocarbon coating (PVDF): suitable for high-end exterior curtain walls, with super weather resistance, and outdoor service life of up to 15-20 years.
Polyester coating (PE): Suitable for indoor or short-term advertising projects, with bright colors but relatively weak weather resistance.
Key parameters include:
Coating adhesion (need to pass pencil hardness test, cross-cut test, etc.)
Color difference and gloss uniformity
Recommendation: Observe whether there is color difference, coating shedding, peeling, orange peel pattern, etc.
4. Core material and flame retardant performance
The core material is the "core" of the aluminum composite panel. High-quality aluminum composite panels usually use high-quality PE plastic or flame-retardant core material (such as B1 grade, A2 grade flame-retardant core):
Poor-quality core materials are usually mixed with a large amount of recycled materials or miscellaneous materials, which makes the panels flammable and easy to deform.
Flame-retardant aluminum composite panels should have national or international flame retardant grade certification.
Recommendation: Cut the panel and observe whether the core layer is too dark or has impurities. The color of high-quality core materials is clean and uniform.
5. Flatness and strength test
High-quality aluminum composite panels should have good surface flatness, and should not have warping, wavy lines, bulging, etc.
During use, it should be able to withstand external forces such as wind pressure and impact to maintain structural stability.
You can gently bend the corners or apply pressure to the board surface to test its ability to resist deformation.
6. Brand and warranty commitment
High-quality aluminum composite panels usually come from powerful manufacturers with complete quality control processes and certification systems (such as ISO, CE, SGS), and can provide:
Product test report
Material warranty period
After-sales service guarantee
Suggestion: Choose suppliers with factory background, export experience or complete certification.
