Truck parts are hard to find due to several factors, including the wide variety of truck makes and models, each with its unique specifications and requirements. Additionally, older or less common truck models may have discontinued parts, making sourcing even more challenging. Supply chain disruptions, fluctuating demand, and regional availability further complicate the situation. Moreover, specialized parts often require specific suppliers or manufacturers, limiting options and increasing lead times. These factors collectively contribute to the difficulty in locating the right truck parts.

FinditParts simplifies this process by providing access to a vast inventory of OEM and aftermarket parts for a wide range of truck makes and models, including hard-to-find components. With its strategically located warehouses and strong partnerships with suppliers, they help minimize lead times and ensure customers have access to the parts they need, when they need them—no matter the challenge.

Semi-trucks are typically divided into two main sections: the tractor and the trailer. The tractor, which houses the engine and driver's cabin, contains key components like the engine, transmission, axles, and fifth-wheel coupling (which connects to the trailer). The trailer, responsible for carrying cargo, includes parts like the brakes, landing gear, and specialized features for different types of loads.

Both sections rely on three major systems: the chassis (which supports the weight and includes the frame, axles, and suspension), the powertrain (which generates and transmits power through the engine, drivetrain, and transmission), and the body (which serves the truck’s purpose, whether for cargo hauling or other tasks). Together, these systems ensure the truck’s functionality and performance.

where do you guys buy your truck parts? - Truckers Report

Just curious to see what most are doing. I have always just bought all my parts from the stealership.

Do you use heavy duty truck stores, buy online? I know prices are better. Or do you stick with oem?

Another thing, they didn't want to give me a part number at freightliner today saying they are there to sell me parts, not give the competition part numbers. Is there other ways to get part numbers besides obviously looking at the part?

As always, appreciate the input.
I buy most of my truck parts at stores other than the dealer unless I need a specific part that only the dealer handles. I have an 03 Pete and my local dealer keeps pushing Chinese parts at a big savings. Most times I had to replace some parts more frequently than an part made in the USA. I A
so get the same line from the dealer about giving up part numbers. I prefer the part houses where they stock not only my parts but parts for many other makes and models. I specify made in the USA, but I'm not lucky all the time. The dealership turns me off.
For Freightliner, go to www.accessfreightliner.com Click on register for owners. You'll have to give some info and it'll take a few weeks, but you'll get access to parts and service information for you VIN.

Once you have access to your info, you can look up parts and get part #'s and price things out yourself.
Wow, thanks for that. As usual you are an asset to TTR.
I am very fortunate to have a Truckpro, Fleet Pride, Freightliner , Volvo, and several other independent truck parts houses in a 2 mile radius of where I park. I start with Truck pro and and keep going until I find my part. If it's a Western Star only part, I have to order it from the dealer 60 miles a way.
there is a lot of times where I can get things cheaper at my local freightliner dealer than truckpro or fleetpride, which are all within walking distance of each other. speed sensor, brake chambers when on sale, fuel filters. e.t.c. most of the time when I need a part, I just go in my side box, cause I'M already a rollin parts house.
I know how you feel!! If TruckPro, FleetPride, or whoever is running a sale on chambers, lights, air bags or whatever Ill buy it and stock it at home (im local)
